Understand search results
We first have to understand that we do SEO for people. Search results are addressed to people that are looking for your website. SEO is an ongoing process. It is part of running your own website, just like updating of the content.
There are different kinds of search results that Google and other search engines are showing when a search is conducted.
In this SEO guide we are only concerned with "organic" search results. These will not get their good position through advertisement, but through good SEO!

Understand components of search results

A search result consists of 3 parts:
1. The title (Webnode: Create your own homepage for free!)
2. The URL, i.e. the web address (https://www.webnode.com/)
3. The meta-description of the website (You can create and own your website for free...)
With these 3 settings you convince searchers that your website is the best result! On this page you find a brief introduction of how to optimize these three components. If you want get more in-depth knowledge, check out our on-page optimization manual.
The page title should reflect the purpose of a particular page of your website. The keyword of this page should be placed at the beginning of the title, so that it is always visible. The title should spark the interest of the seeker and possibly lead him or her to directly click on your page. Make sure that the length of the title does not exceed the maximum of 60 characters.
The URL shows the exact address of a particular page found in the search. It is important to have a clean, short URL that reads easily.
Example:
When seeing the URL "https://webnode.com/login/", the searcher knows directly that he or she can log into Webnode on this page
The meta description is a short description of a particular page. People mostly skim through this text, so it is not important to create full long sentences. It is much more important that you get the message of your page across. Keep the meta description to an absolut maximum of 160 characters.
