Speed
This is a significant topic! A slowly loading website is one of the main reasons why visitors leave the site immediately. With Webnode you are in luck to be with one of the fastest website builders on the market. The thing you need to make sure is:
Maintain the size of your pictures. Pictures are great! They make the website more interesting and entertaining, and break long text passages to make the site easier to read. Pictures on their own they can tell the whole story. However, a picture with a size exceeding 1000 kb, does not convey anything but annoyance if it takes minutes to load to be seen. Picture sizes on a website should vary between 300-600 kb to not influence loading speed and yet suffice a clear visual impact. Sizes below 300 kb are acceptable too, whereas the 600 kb range is more for the sophisticated picture lover.
Tip: Upload images to your website, which data files are named after what can be seen on the image or alternatively (if suitable) the keyword of the page. Google sees images as an image link and therefore recognizes this written content.
If your images are too large to start with, you can compress their size. Tinypng is an online tool that minimizes the size of an image without losing much of its quality and resolution. Just upload your image in Tinypng and download the compressed version back onto your device again.
Attention: Pictures downloaded from Tinypng will have the same name as the uploaded version, so make sure you know which of the two is the compressed one.
Long pages need a lot of scrolling down down down... If you notice your page becomes to long or has too many images at once, better split the page into several. Long pages contain more data that needs loading longer.Apart from the fact that they are messy and difficult to read. Keep the pages short and concise. This makes your users happy and keeps the bandwidth low.
